Shipping Calculations

I am finding that the shipping calculations are something I am having trouble with.
I have items that weigh .005 lb and others that wiegh 550 lbs

When using UPS or Fedex to ship a small lightwieght item
to a relatively close destination can cost 30-50 dollars,
which is a little much, when we can actually ship it Canada Post for $12.
With that, the customer isn't about to make the purchase.
And it is my experiance will not come back to look at other items in the future.

On the other end of the wieght issue,
is the product that weighs in at 500 lbs
and UPS and Fedex have a weight limit that can be caluculated on line. . .

All this to say I have arrived to a place where the "storewide" option is the one to go with.
Base Charge and Rate Per Pound
$15 dollar base and a dollar a pound
this works for most products . . . but
a 500 lb unit ordered on the website would cost $515 to ship
where as we have local trucking companys that could deliver it for $200 to far reaching destinations.

I think the "Work Around This" for me would be 2 requests:
1. Multiple Storewide Shipping . . . ie.
Storewide Shipping - 1
Storewide Shipping - 2
Storewide Shipping - 3
Storewide Shipping - 4
. . . infinitum (~: well maybe to 10 anyways
and
2. The Local Handling Country/Countries
Changeable to "Regions" That I could name,
as we will service only to a +- 700 mile radius
which could comprise of 7-10 regions.

It might be a lot to ask.
But I am loading 30-90,000 products,
Non are digital and all are tangable.

Although I only have 400 or so products loaded so far
I think I need a solution soonish . . . (~:

It would be nice if you could a minimum order price. Like say a $50.00 minimum before they can check out.

Permissions errors

I have reinstalled on a sub domain (store.mysite.com) now when I upload a new product I recieve the following error...
Error
Could not write to the products directory! Check permissions!

I have changed the product folder permissions to 777 but still get the error

Mobile Site

Overall not bad, but the text of the item I'm selling goes out of the screen. I can't scroll to the right and I can't add item to the cart (since it spans out of the screen).

This version will detect mobile devices and use a new page layout for those, which will fit the screen without zooming or side scrolling and use buttons and input fields that are easier to use on a touch screen.

The mobile shopping cart is available in both the free AShop GPL and the paid AShop V.

Payment Options

When I choose payment options it will not save anything I put in the description or text on order page box.

Payment Notifications not being sent

Wholesale customers only.

We activate an order and get the message that we can send a payment notification. The email information is displayed with a submit button. Click the submit button and sent to a Sales Report page with the message 'Order activation notice sent' ... but no notice is actually sent. AND the sales report shows all zeros with no order listed.

Missing a setting? A bug in the program? Is order activation notices only for retail customers and not wholesale?

Would love a response to this ...

Vad glad jag blir att jag hittade något till slut som var något annat än det vanliga. jag vill verkligen sköta min webshop själv och ha möjligheter att vara flexibel och ta egna beslut - och få en lägre kostnad. Jag är rätt trött på webshopsleverantörer som bara sneglar på varandras prissättning och har krångliga upplägg så att man aldrig vet vad det kommer att kosta i slutänden. Hoppas att ni är annorlunda på riktigt! jag vill gärna prata med andra här i forumet när vi blir fler, så att vi kan hjälpas åt! hejhej /Eva

Product Category Links stop working after Manufacturer search

This is kind of strange. If you click to view products by manufacturer you will get a page of products for that manufacturer ... perfect! But if you then click on a product category to view a page of products in that category you will be returned to the Home page. Try again and you will remain on the Home page.

Now if you refresh the web page and click on the product category first, viola ... you get a page of products for that category ... perfect!

Any ideas what is going on?

Changing links for Register and Login in header

My client is wholesale only and would like the Register link in the header to go to the Wholesale Sign Up form and the Login to go to the Wholesale Login page ... where would I be able to make the modifications to do this?

Catagory Levels

lis. requirement after regestering

I had the free version loaded, at: /ashop1/
Then loaded the full version,
and used one of my regestration Keys for multiple domains.

(I may have not used the one that I used for: /ashop/
which is still installed, but will be deleted )

When useing /ashop1/ and I try to enter
Shop peramiters
Lay out
Affiliate
The page drops down and all links are inactive
and a space up top informs me the site needs to be licensed

and when trying to enter the mall area
the page just goes to a default age saying I need to register

shoud I re-install and use my other reg Key
or delete the /ashop/ location and retain the /ashop1/

Product image issues

When I click on the product image it comes up nice . . .

but there is no way to get rid of it ???

PS. while playing and before posting this I discovered that
when the Product Image is clicked on and displayed
the page drops down ansd there is a blank line at the top of the page . . .

I clicked on the space and the product image went away and the page returned to normal.
